The Hermitage Days in Serbia is an international cultural event organised by the State Hermitage Museum, the Serbian Ministry of Culture, and Gazprom Neft.

The first event will take place in Belgrade on 24−29 October 2023.

Russia’s main museum has prepared an extensive cultural programme. Two exhibitions will open at once in cooperation with the National Museum of Serbia: the Invisible Art inclusive project and the Tsar’s Porcelain exposition. Marking the centenary of the Serbian ballet celebrated this year, the legendary St. Petersburg Jacobson Ballet Company will stage two performances at the National Theatre in Belgrade, showing the best of its works. The same stage will host a concert of famous Russian baritone singer Vasily Gerello, who bears an honorary title of the People’s Artist of Russia. The Hermitage Days in Serbia will also offer screenings of documentaries and feature films at the Yugoslav Film Library, as well as workshops, seminars and round tables at the National Museum. Mikhail Piotrovsky, Director of the Hermitage Museum, will deliver an open public lecture titled The Culture Bridges of St. Petersburg at the University of Belgrade.

The 4th Russia-Serbia Archaeological Conference will take place on the sidelines of the Hermitage Days in Belgrade and Novi Sad, featuring experts from the Hermitage Museum and the Museum of Vojvodina. After the end of the main part of the programme, the Serbian participants will travel to St. Petersburg to proceed with their research efforts.

The Hermitage Days in Serbia is just the first step in the far-reaching plans of the world’s most famous museums to expand its presence in the region. The Hermitage receives a lot of support from the Serbian Ministry of Culture and Gazprom Neft in these endeavours. In the context of current global challenges, the format of the Hermitage Days enables continued robust cultural dialogue between the friendly countries to share academic experience and new discoveries in art.
